If you’re not sure how to pronounce my name, please listen here. If you’re a journalist seeking comment, the most effective way to contact me is a direct message on Twitter (if I follow you), or via my Curtin email address, t.leaver. I am also an occasional contributor to The Conversation you can find my writing there via my Conversation profile. Below (with links where possible) are interviews I’ve given for a range of publications and broadcasts. Not the things you do or bring, just you.I am a frequent media commentator on a range of issues including uses of social media, online communication, birth and early childhood online (including ‘sharenting’), digital death, privacy, Instagram, Facebook, Google, Twitter, streaming media platforms and related topics. I hope you remember today, too, just how important, treasured, and magical you are. The thing that makes the difference to them is not the elaborate activity or the perfectly selected dessert. I feel guilty for having to almost force myself to carve out special times for things like this, but each time I do I’m reminded why. I heard things I might otherwise have missed if I hadn’t stopped for this small moment to be all there. They lit up as they told me about the goings on that day, that week. I’m constantly busy, constantly doing, but when I sat down and gave my complete attention to these two, their little spirits reminded me why it’s so important. Moments like this have slipped through my grasp a lot lately. Face to face and after I snapped this photo I sat down and listened intently to everything they had to say. This tiny moment of calm brought us together for a few moments. We brewed some chamomile, added a dash (see also: heaping spoonfuls) of honey, sat down and chit chatted and looked out the window at the goings on below. And it’s just as special without the extras. Well, all the pomp and circumstance has faded away, but here we are having tea time again. We had these once a week all last year and they were a true bright spot. We’d pick our special teas, desserts, decorate the table, and pick a poem to read and little activity to do along with it. If you’ve been following along for awhile, you know tea times used to be a big big thing here.
